He is One

We celebrated Ezra's first birthday this past Saturday. It was wonderful, so many dear friends came, including my dear mother all the way from the frozen North. It has been so special having her here with us. In this picture Ezra sucks the cake and frosting from his cake. We sang happy birthday and then held the cake in front of him, waiting to see what he'd do. He studied it, and after some dozen seconds delicately grasped the candle, and sucked it clean. He didn't grab handfuls of gooey mess! What a good instinct. My little man didn't want to upset his suit.

Instead of posting all the pictures here on my blog, I have decided to instead post them on a photo website. You can view them here.

There are some shots of Ezra's birthday party as well as our trip to the Oregon Coast. We had a great time! We went to Manzanita and spent the night in a yurt. It was magical. I love a round room. There was a sky light in the roof and the moon was full so we spent the night bathed in moon glow. What a night.

The birthday party was a complete success. You will see pictures of Melissa playing her guitar, Ezra loved this. She and Grandma built the birthday tunnel, which Ezra went through twice. Not the hit we had hoped it would be. He got a fancy red plaid lumberjack shirt that he wears inside the yurt.

I can't believe my little sweet heart is a year old! Here goes another interesting year...
