As of Late

Above is a sculpture that Ezra made at his school. It is Portland!

He's so proud! (Tho that smile looks fake...)

We housesat for our friend Lisa over Thanksgiving and had good ol' Usiah over for a sleepover!

The boys enjoy a post bath bedtime snack.

The next day we went on The Polar Express! Well, it's Mt. Hood Railroad's version of the Polar Express. Everyone was encouraged to wear their pajamas, hot cocoa was served, we read the book, and got a special visit from Santa. Grandma got to come too!

The boys listening to one of the chefs read the Polar Express.

Here's Santa's workshop! He and some of his elves waved to us and then boarded the train.

It's pretty exciting to see Santa.

Tho Usiah was a little nervous.

What does he want for Christmas? Legos!

What does he want for Christmas? Legos as well!

It was good to get the boys together and take this special trip with Grandma.

Halloween Finally!

Wow it's almost Christmas and I am just getting around to the Halloween post! Sorry. It is a busy time of year. So here's Ezra the ninja and Jupiter the turkey, enjoying the warm Halloween evening free of rain!

Maya the unicorn helps steady the tippy turkey.

And they're off! I actually took a picture of every single house where they trick or treated, but decided against posting them all. You get the idea.

There were some excellent jack-o-lanterns en route. These guys are fun, I especially like the guy in the middle who has lost his pumpkin lunch.

One more porch shot, for good measure.

This shot was taken inside a haunted house that some teenage boys had constructed in their front yard. Ezra loved it and wasn't a bit scared. Me? Yea a little freaked out.

The loot! Organized, counted, ready to consume.

The after party.

Science Museum & Dinnertime Photo Shoot

At OMSI (the Portland science museum) there is a new exhibit called Grossology. It teaches all about why our bodies do the gross things that they do! Very interesting. Here Ezra stands in a huge nose, learning about boogers!

Bouldering across some skin littered with zits, blisters and scabs...

And my favorite: a huge version of Operation complete with salad tongs for removing body parts.

When we got home we had dinner and we both took some pictures. I made Ezra into a kitty cat...

And he made me into dinner!

Ezra likes the mouse face feature...

On himself,

And his macaroni!

I like this one.

I don't really like this one.

Dreary Portland day through a periscope?

Ninja-Apple-Fest-Weekend

Ezra's Halloween costume trial run! We have a couple things to work out, but overall he's looking good, and tough.

We went to the apple festival in Portland with some friends on Sunday. Here Farmer Maya holds Rooster Ezra.

The most beautiful flowers.

Jupey flower!

There were so many varieties of apples! Here Ezra and Maya discuss the Buckeye Gala. I can't remember what variety Ezra is sampling.

This was the weirdest variety, the Winter Banana apple.

Pumpkin Patch with Lisa

We went to Sauvie Island today to Kruger's Farm with our good friend Lisa. We did the corn maze for the first time! It was fun to navigate our way around. Ezra preferred to go through the corn rather than stay on the path so he got a little scratched up. He always crosses the lines doing mazes on paper too.

There's a smile! And the map of the corn maze. It was based on a Mayan design. And Ezra's part Mayan!

We also got a caramel apple. Ezra learned about how sticky caramel is.

There's a nice smile! (I had just said, "Smile nice or I'm taking away that apple.")

Another nice one with the pumpkins.

The hay ride was next, which took us out the the pumpkin patch.

You can see his poor little cheeks are all scratched up from the corn maze jungle.

And to finish off the day, a pony ride! He totally fell asleep on the way home from this full day of Fall fun.

Cookies and a Cut

Ezra and I made chocolate chip cookies, and Ezra helped with the clean up.

He also got a spiffy haircut for his school pictures. This isn't the best shot to show it off, but it's basically a faux hawk with the beginnings of a tail. I'm calling it the Barthelona Do cause I saw lots of men and women with this hair cut when I was in Spain.
Let you know when those school pictures come back! We got the haircut and a fancy sweater so hopefully the boy didn't stick his tongue out and ruin all my best intentions.

A Little of This, a Pinch of That

One very important thing that I left out in my last post concerning what we've been up to for the past month and a half is that we had the lovely Finc family up for a visit! I only took these two pictures during their stay, but I bet you already saw Jeff's post about it. These pictures were taken in the Columbia River Gorge at Vista House on the Historic Highway. It's one of my favorite spots. We had a great visit and I personally think that they should just move up here!

We went to the Children's Museum with Maya and Jupey last week. In the above photo Ezra is pretending that the octopus is a vet taking care of the dog. That octopus got around, he also served food in the restaurant and played dentist to the crocodile. My lil' man is so imaginative!

Normally Ezra does not paint his face but something about Maya made him very eager to paint not only his face...

Jupe got a blue unibrow. Lookin' good!

The finishing touches...

Voila! There's also coloring on his belly and legs folks!

Later in the week Maya and Jupe came over to our house for the afternoon. Jupiter helped me with the laundry...

While Maya and Ez took a bath and talked at length about anatomy. I wonder when they will be too old to take baths together?

As the day grew late they did a little nature inspired art with the marigolds on the dead grass.

They do the cutest things together.
